Description Weedy 2013-01-01 06:00:42 UTC
1. the binary rename that had no ebuild note or compate symlink for the first version.
2. Can't choose it as the prefered terminal in xfce preferences anymore
3. No colour.
4. Cries about missing /etc/termcap (libtermcap-compat dep?)
5. only accepts about half my keystrokes. Biggest annoyance, does not accept enter/return.

Was I supposed to do more then --update when installing this? Not even rebuilding vte and xfce-terminal after a revdep fixed this.

Reproducible: Always

Go into Terminal preferences (via Terminal's Edit menu), click on the Compatibility tab, and select xterm as your $TERM.

This is a bug tracker, not a support forum.

I can set Terminal as default without problems. Settings -> Preferred Applications -> Xfce Terminal.

Since xfce4-terminal is in ~arch, you will also require other packages from ~arch for this to work, like latest xfce-base/exo.

Also, after upgrading, you have to close/kill every instance of Terminal (and vte), otherwise when you load it again, it will still pick up the old stuff that causes the termcap warning

Tempted to close this as WORKSFORME already, but i'll wait for your input
Comment 4 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-01-02 07:33:54 UTC
And there won't be a symlink to Terminal. Ever. The rename was done in purpose and has been locally done even before that by various other distros, like Debian.

As in, Terminal is the GNUstep terminal -> gnustep-apps/terminal
