I can confirm this bug: to reproduce (on amd64) emerge gnome-applets with ~amd64 and emerge hamster-applet (not unusual use-case since panel was kept to make users happy). guess this problem wouldn't be a problem anymore if a new package were added for hamster-time-tracker replacing hamster-applet, as announced on http://projecthamster.wordpress.com/. guess same happened with its dependencies, they got abandoned and/or moved on to other projects. so better check what else depends on them...
