There's a bug with php-5.4,

  https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=62996

so we've upgraded Just In Case for the php-5.4 migration.

We will not stabilise APC until upstream regard it as safe to do so.

I'm going to close this; it looks like everyone upstream gave up on APC and this version will probably never be marked stable.
