Description Graham Murray 2012-12-02 22:10:08 UTC
The upgrade to emul-linux-x86-opengl-20121202 removes /usr/lib32/libGLU.so.1. For 'native' amd64 libGLU was removed from media-libs/mesa and implemented in media-libs/glu, but there is no corresponding emul-linux-x86 package for the 32bit library.

app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-opengl-20121202 was built with the following:
USE="-development"
Comment 1 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2012-12-02 22:36:01 UTC
Maybe the blocker in media-libs/glu can be updated and the flag be unmasked now.

+1 for unmask flag. no collisions anymore. at least with app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-opengl-20121202
Comment 4 Sergey Ilinykh 2012-12-05 18:59:42 UTC
I had to make some modifications to glu ebuild as well

-multilib? ( !app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-opengl )"
+multilib? ( !<app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-opengl-20121202 )"

and

-AUTOTOOLS_BUILD_DIR=${WORKDIR}/${ABI} "${@}"
+BUILD_DIR=${WORKDIR}/${ABI} "${@}"

w/o second modification it installs only 64-bit libs
Comment 5 Sergey Ilinykh 2012-12-05 19:03:43 UTC
oops didn't didn't read Pacho Ramos's message. gotta sync and check =)))

Ugh. Let's use the multilib USE flag on media-libs/glu instead.

Anyway, I am all for moving to real multilib, then, if you are willing to support multilib for some packages, please let me know to drop them from next emul set

I thought all this multilib efforts got stalled again when mgorny suggested to create an eclass for some build systems, I suggested to use a more general eclass for packages not relying on autotools, cmake... eclasses and tommy preferred to go directly to a new eapi... And I forgot how the problem ended apart of we needing to still ship this emul set cruft :S
Comment 8 Oo.et.oO 2013-01-18 21:32:51 UTC
this mess is blocking me:

emerge -av1D =mesa-9.0.1 virtual/glu =emul-linux-x86-opengl-20121202-r1

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

should i add a separate bug?

This means that the package is from some overlay called "x-erict" and you should contact whomever is responsible for that overlay instead.

His email is erict@alum.rpi.edu so I think that's him. Unknowingly reporting your own bug... ouch.
Comment 11 Oo.et.oO 2013-01-23 19:17:47 UTC
that's where i applied this patch:
"
-multilib? ( !app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-opengl )"
+multilib? ( !<app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-opengl-20121202 )"

and

-AUTOTOOLS_BUILD_DIR=${WORKDIR}/${ABI} "${@}"
+BUILD_DIR=${WORKDIR}/${ABI} "${@}"
"

either way, it blocks...
Comment 12 Oo.et.oO 2013-01-23 19:19:25 UTC
i also put

media-libs/glu -multilib

in /etc/portage/package.use.force
to no effect
Comment 13 Oo.et.oO 2013-01-23 19:53:52 UTC
oh. package.use.force only gets picked up from the profiles?
so i stuck it in /etc/make.profile
and then used FEATURES="-collision-protect"
to install glu over the top of emul-linux-x86-opengl
(glu overwrote /usr/lib64/libGLU.so )
hope that doesn't bork something downstream...
Comment 14 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2013-02-25 18:57:17 UTC
This is fixed in emul packages side... real multilib is handled in a different bug (I remember to see a one assigned to mgorny for migrating xlibs stuff)
