* QA Notice: This package installs one or more .desktop files that do not * pass validation. * * /usr/share/applications/2ManDVD.desktop: warning: key "Encoding" in group "Desktop Entry" is deprecated
It's a totally harmless warning[1] -> I don't care -> report it upstream please. [1] And really, it's been like this for years, *tons* of packages spit out that same exact warning. We have better things to do than fixing them, especially considering that upstreams do not care. In fact, they keep introducing new desktop files with the deprecated "Encoding" key. I suggest you open a bug against portage to silence that particular warning.
Patch for portage: http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=proj/portage.git;a=commit;h=bbbb9c8459dd51a564de16636d1246b585bf6733
Thanks a lot Zac!
It's really an job for the distribution maintainers, and well, users, to submit these bugs to upstream(s) as nobody else will. To assume they know about the desktop-file-validation tool is not reasonable. My opinion.

Especially when it not a real problem but a harmless warning.
We display harmless warnings from many other tools and create plenty from our own - ebuild.minorsyn from repoman for example.
