Genkernel /initrd schould be extended to have an ssh emergency console not only for remote acces to enter the luks security key but also for all the new headless NAS devices that can be equiped with gentoo. so a way to have acces to the box would be great Reproducible: Always
Patches welcome.
There exists a patch to integrate dropbear into initramfs https://github.com/ebast/genkernel/commit/319512ba55af7a0e875972173cc92563b6ce5b37 I don't know the actual status and I'm not related to that patch. But I like to see this feature as well.
Is anyone working on this? What is required to get this into the official genkernel release? As there are already working patches i just want to know what is to do to get this into official genkernel.
Maybe this does help? https://github.com/funtoo/genkernel/blob/master/gen_initramfs.sh Especially: https://github.com/funtoo/genkernel/commit/1886bbafecca1c225646e8d297bbb522caedfd9b
This look really great except for the lack that it is not possible to configure a nic statically. So as this seems to be in funtoo now, the next thing i want to know if it is possible to also merge this into the gentoo genkernel variant? I could also modify my genkernel ebuild to add this patch, but i prefer to use the original ebuild from gentoo. This would save me the time to patch the ebuild every update.
