Description Carlos Silva 2012-10-19 21:00:20 UTC
After upgrading to wine 1.5.15 some applications started locking up. I reported the bug upstream (winehq) and they pointed me to this bug [1] where they talk about how the problem is with the libxcb version. Looks like the problem is fixed on libxcb-1.9 not yet in portage.
The relevant bug in freedesktop is [2] and the equivalent bug in debian and ubuntu is [3] and [4].

[2] https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54671
[3] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=689269
[4] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxcb/+bug/1064772

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Update to wine-1.5.15
2. Try to run some threaded application (Pokerstars was what i used)
3.
Actual Results:
Application hangs

Expected Results:
Application should run normally

So, you're basically requesting a version bump on libxcb ?
Comment 3 Carlos Silva 2012-10-20 00:39:25 UTC
(In reply to comment #2)
> So, you're basically requesting a version bump on libxcb ?

basically yet. but because the current one is broken, not because there is a newer version available. They could even apply the patch without a version bump.

Should be fixed already in 1.8.1-r1, reopen if it is not.

Comment 5 Carlos Silva 2012-10-20 18:19:47 UTC
It's not working with libxcb-1.8.1-r1
Comment 6 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2012-10-21 10:46:50 UTC
Please double check that it is really a separate issue:

1. You are seeing a different hang than in bug 436780
2. If you are on a 64 bit system, be aware that wine uses 32 bit libraries from emul-linux-x86-xlibs
Comment 7 Carlos Silva 2012-10-21 17:07:58 UTC
Here's the bug report I opened upstream (wine) that was marked as dup [1].
It's probably something with being on a 64 bits system since having the latest libxcb doesn't solve the problem.

Comment 8 Carlos Silva 2012-10-29 23:33:53 UTC
Still reproducible with wine-1.5.16
Comment 9 Chí-Thanh Christopher Nguyễn gentoo-dev 2012-10-29 23:52:14 UTC
You are using amd64, so upgrading libxcb or wine will not help you. The only thing that can help you is getting a fixed emul-linux-x86-xlibs.

Before reopening again, follow comment 6.

Comment 10 Carlos Silva 2012-10-30 00:00:52 UTC
I'm already on the latest one available...

$ emerge -pv app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-xlibs

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Where can I get a new one?
