Description Simon Piette 2004-03-04 14:12:27 UTC
When trying to load the snd-emu10k1 driver, wherever it's from /etc/init.d/alsasound or simply modprobe snd-emu10k1, it fails.
Changing kernel versions doesn't change anything. On the same box I have a working ccrma kernel on a RHL 7.3 install with alsa-driver 1.0.1, working. Emerging version 1.0.3 fix the problem.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install gentoo-sources, configure sound support as a module, compile, install and reboot with it.
2. Emerge alsa-driver-0.9.8
3. Try to start alsasound

Actual Results:
Here's the relevant lines in /var/log/messages:
Mar 3 03:12:31 xim PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 00:0b.0
Mar 3 03:12:31 xim PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:07.2
Mar 3 03:12:31 xim PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 00:07.3
Mar 3 03:12:31 xim EMU10K1/Audigy soundcard not found or device busy
Mar 3 03:12:31 xim insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.251/kernel/sound/pci/emu10k1/snd-em
u10k1.o: init_module: No such device

Expected Results:
The module should be load.
