Description Ben Davis 2004-03-04 06:55:39 UTC
My e-mail address is presented in raw form everywhere I have participated in a bug report (e.g. this one). This is the case whether I am logged in or not. Often it is in the form:

<A HREF="mailto:a@b.c">Name</A>

I imagine spambots find this extremely tasty. I am getting tons of spam, and as far as I know, this and bugs.kde.org are the only places where my e-mail address is presented so readily.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Expected Results:
I recommend allowing users to have their e-mail addresses hidden. This
includes modifying the 'Cc' box to accept user IDs as well as e-mail
addresses.

Perhaps complement this change with the addition of an 'online e-mail' form,
so users can still be contacted by e-mail. I'd like such a form to send a copy
to the sender, for his or her records.

I consider this a bug report, not an enhancement request. Since spam is such
an issue, the ability to keep one's e-mail address hidden should be a
fundamental online 'human right'. :)
