In Gentoo if you've enabled va api decoding, xbmc hangs while playing h264 videos or in that case, any video which will use VA API for hardware decoding. If I modify the ebuild to remove --enable-external-libraries, the problem solves.
Please post your `emerge --info media-tv/xbmc' output in a comment.
emerge --info doesn't work anymore. [ebuild N ] media-tv/xbmc-11.0 USE="alsa css sse sse2 udev vaapi xrandr -airplay (-altivec) -avahi -bluetooth -bluray -cec -debug -goom -joystick -midi -mysql -profile -projectm -pulseaudio -pvr -rsxs -rtmp -samba -vdpau -webserver" 61,536 kB
This can at least be confirmed?
Confirmed. Same on my system (Kernel 3.5.7, libva 1.0.15, xbmc 11.0, graphics Intel Clardale on Core i5)
Confirmed on a fresh Gentoo install. Removing --enable-external-libraries from the ebuild solves the problem. # emerge --info Portage 2.1.11.31 (default/linux/amd64/10.0, gcc-4.5.4, glibc-2.15-r3, 3.5.7-gentoo x86_64) I have seen this same issue on all 3 of my different intel video setups (SB mobile, SB desktop, IB desktop), but it seems to be working flawlessly on current git (9999). The 12.0 release is imminent, I say let's work on getting that building & in portage ASAP.
It's fixed with 12.x
Just to see where we stand-- is xbmc-11 vaapi broken for *everyone*, or just certain setups like intel video? Anyone seeing the same breakage on radeon/nvidia/fglrx/whatever?
xbmc is no longer in the tree. you'll need to migrate to kodi.
