Comment 2 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-09-24 12:07:05 UTC
I am aware of the problem but it is not a Gentoo specific problem. This needs to be reported and fixed upstream. After all it is a live ebuild so there is nothing I can do about it
Comment 3 Jekyll Wu 2012-09-24 12:24:24 UTC
Well, I'm not sure whether this is upstream problem or gentoo specific problem, but I have no problem in installing the live build of libfm on Archlinux via http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33115

Whatever, if this is really upstream problem, should I report it to the upstream or should I expect you(developers) to forward this report to the upstream?

Hmm in this case it might be a Gentoo problem. I will have a look later today
Comment 5 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-09-27 21:04:51 UTC
It should be fixed now

+ 27 Sep 2012; Markos Chandras <hwoarang@gentoo.org> libfm-9999.ebuild:
+ Remove the autom4te.cache file after running eautoreconf. Bug #436058
+
Comment 6 Jekyll Wu 2012-09-28 10:55:42 UTC
Thanks for your effort, but it still fails at the same place for me. I just check it again after syncing . Could you double check the fix?
Comment 7 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-09-28 11:06:28 UTC
Could you try replacing the eautoreconf with ./autogen.sh inside the ebuild, run "ebuild digest" and then try to emerge it again?
Comment 8 Jekyll Wu 2012-09-28 11:52:21 UTC
No, using ./autogen.sh in the ebuild causes the same failure.

But I think I have noticed the culprit. Enabling the "vala" flag now makes it work, but I don't like/need it and have always disabled it. That is why it failed for me.

So this bug seems to be in fact an upstream problem (and since vala is enabled by default, you don't notice the problem in the Archlinux pkgbuild). Could you report it upstream please?
Comment 10 Jekyll Wu 2012-09-28 12:29:20 UTC
But I can install from source manually (instead of using ebuild) following the general way :

    ./autogen.sh
    ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-actions
    make
    sudo make install

Whatever, I will contact upstream developers. They should understand this problem better.

Well we don't do anything special in this ebuild. We do exactly what we do in libfm-1.0.X ebuilds and they work just fine. Anyway I will try to reproduce it again in my box
Comment 12 Jekyll Wu 2012-09-28 13:07:42 UTC
OK, I have contacted the upstream developer and the problem is identified and fixed in commit ffab4b1679cd5c70dc69b63a016c390ec9f7898c.

You can close this ticket now :)

Awesome. Thanks!!
