Grub 2.00 ignoring gfxmode and not using framebuffer. I need to notice: it's works with v.1.99-r2. Created attachment 324332 [details] grub conf.
Can you attach the generated grub.cfg?
Created attachment 324660 [details] grub.cfg I did some minor changes on '/etc/default/grub' since I generated this last one.
Just playing with it in qemu, the gfxmode setting seems to work fine for me. Here's a minimal config I used to test with: loadfont unicode set gfxmode=1024x768 insmod all_video insmod gfxterm terminal_output gfxterm Also, I am using GRUB_GFXMODE=auto in /etc/default/grub on my real hardware, and it auto-detects my 1600x1200 monitor. Maybe try a different resolution? It is possible that your graphics card does not support a VBE resolution of 1280x800. Otherwise, I would suggest you seek help from upstream; there may be something odd about your system that is triggering a bug.
I already tried 'auto' and others resolutions. I'm sure it's works here on 1280x800, because using the exactly same '/etc/default/grub' with grub-1.99-r2 it's work smoothly. I'll report to upstream, indeed may be a hardware specific issue. Thanks!
I finally reported for upstream: https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?37664
It works with current supported versions.
