I also hit this bug.
Gold linker issue, easy to fix.

I patched 'configure.in' as mentioned in the link. - Doesn't work! - The same error!

Unfortunately the ebuild force to unpack and overwrite the already existing sources after you try to continue the ebuild upon failure. Even if it wouldn't happen, changes made to configure.in won't take effect until reconfigure. This is done by calling autoreconf. The gentoo way is to call eautoreconf in the ebuild after patching the configure system. This also implies to inherit autotools eclass by the ebuild. These things can be commited by the package maintainer.

I was too tired to start modifying the ebuild, so here is a quick and dirty solution for you:
1. emerge grandr - and see how it fails
2. /var/tmp/portage/x11-apps/grandr-0.1-r1/work/grandr-0.1_build/src
3. x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -march=core2 -O2 -pipe -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -o grandr main.o support.o interface.o callbacks.o grandr.o pixmap.o -lgtk-x11-2.0 -lgdk-x11-2.0 -latk-1.0 -lgio-2.0 -lpangoft2-1.0 -lpangocairo-1.0 -lgdk_pixbuf-2.0 -lcairo -lpango-1.0 -lfreetype -lfontconfig -lgobject-2.0 -lgconf-2 -lglib-2.0 -lXrandr -lgthread-2.0
4. ebuild /usr/portage/x11-apps/grandr/grandr-0.1.ebuild compile
5. ebuild /usr/portage/x11-apps/grandr/grandr-0.1.ebuild install
6. ebuild /usr/portage/x11-apps/grandr/grandr-0.1.ebuild qmerge
7. ebuild /usr/portage/x11-apps/grandr/grandr-0.1.ebuild clean

Here you are!
Next time you owe me a chocolate.

Thanks for this, I'll remember the chocolade ;-))

I tried it with a new (local) ebuild, copying the old one and adding my patch to the PATCHES-variable. All works well, but I didn't know the problem with reconfiguring the source.

Where do I have to put 'eautoreconf'? Just putting it into src_prepare() doesn't work.

I'll attach my patch-file and the faulty ebuild.

When you call eautoreconf, you should add autotools to the inherit line of the ebuild.

Unfortunately the configure.in of this package seems to be unmaintained and it's rather ignored. It's rather up to upstreams to make the utility golden-linker aware.

I don't have enough time now for this, sorry.

Dw.
