Description Reuben Farrelly 2012-08-29 13:47:22 UTC
With the most recent release of the 3.2.1 ebuild for Squid, I'm seeing some severe instability, which I currently have two patches for which I'm testing out.

Now in order to test these two fixes out I need to apply two patches to the squid source code prior to it being built.

However as the squid ebuild does not support epatch_user I'm unable to put these patches into /etc/portage/patches/net-squid/ directory to have them automagically applied as part of the ebuild.

This bugzilla entry is therefore to request the addition of the epatch_user functionality in the ebuild, so that external patches can be included and tested easily.

Some references to that are here:

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-amd64.xml?part=3&chap=6#doc_chap6
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/gentoo/user/245564

It *looks* easy enough to implement but as I'm not a dev I need to leave the final call about that to someone else who understands ebuilds more than I do.

Reproducible: Always
