Description Peter Weilbacher 2012-07-15 09:23:50 UTC
I installed Evolution to see how it works with calendars (.ics files I use with Lightning currently). Installation worked fine, and I added two of my calendars as local files, with "force as read-only" to Evolution, they were both located in the same dir on my local machine, say
    ~/private/cal/peter.ics
    ~/private/cal/work.ics

Since I didn't like to have the "peter" calendar there any more, I deleted it. Since it was set to be read-only I pressed delete without hesitation.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
0. Switch to calendar view in Evolution.
1. Add new calendar, with custom setup, ~/private/cal/peter.ics, read-only,
   updated when file is changed.
2. Do this again with another calendar, ~/private/cal/work.ics.
3. Delete calendar one.
Actual Results:
The whole directory ~/private/cal/ is gone.

Expected Results:
The whole directory ~/private/cal/ should still be there, with its contents untouched, including ~/private/cal/peter.ics.

This is probably an upstream bug, but since I am not familiar with Evolutions bug tracking any more, I don't want to try reporting there. I have also now unmerged evolution again, since I don't want to work with such a buggy app. Just for completeness, follows the output of

Comment 1 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-07-18 18:25:44 UTC
I believe that the gentoo gnome team does not have the expertise to debug and fix this issue. I suggest that you report the problem directly to evolution developers (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Evolution&component=Calendar) and add gnome@gentoo.org to the bug's CC list so that we can keep track of it.

Do note, however, that the upstream developers will likely ask you to test whether the bug still exists in evolution-3, which will entail updating your system to gnome-3.
Comment 2 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2012-07-21 12:09:44 UTC
This will need to be checked with evolution-3 as upstream doesn't support 2.32 at all and, then, I doubt there will be ever fixed for it :|

Could any gnome team member check if he is able to reproduce with evo-3?

3.8 looks to work fine
