So why don't you open bugs with your patches to make it work with Gentoo again?
Comment 3 Sergey Ilinykh 2012-07-18 06:14:34 UTC
actually there are no my patches in the overlay. just patches from omnibook bug tracker.
and its 9999 so includes some additional already commited patches.

if maintainers really want to keep it in the portage, they can just make tarball from latest git sources may be with just one extra patch http://code.google.com/p/rion-overlay/source/browse/app-laptop/omnibook/files/omnibook-kernel-3.0.patch

Well the last release was 5 years ago. Even if we create a snapshot it will eventually break again sooner or later. I see no reason to try and rescue this package if upstream has abandoned it. We will move forward with the removal
Comment 5 Sergey Ilinykh 2012-07-21 14:47:19 UTC
that's ok. I'll keep it may be month or more until I buy a new notebook or until someone starts complain that omnibook does not work anymore.
