Gentoo Kernel Guide says: GS stands for Gentoo Stable (creative, aren't we?). While emerge -s gs-sources says: Description: This kernel stays up to date with current kernel -pres, with recent acpi,evms,win4lin,futexes,aic79xx, superfreeswan, preempt, and various hw fixes. I think that the pre and stable categories are contradictionary. The bug is filed on the documentation as it seems it is wrong.
