You might want to focus on 2.4.9 - that is in the tree now.

However, there is a good chance that a patch for one will help the other.

Dar 2.4.9 compiles correctly with GCC 4.7.1.

Ok, then unless there is a trivial fix I think our solution is to aim to stabilize that in 30 days and this problem solves itself.   We'll leave this open until the old versions are pruned (which might be a bit longer).

My preference would be to get 2.4.9 stabilized.

There was a big thread on the dar-support website about memory issues and really bad performance in certain conditions using 2.4.2.

This is fixed then.  Stabilization should be a new bug.
