i don't know how kernel configs are managed with livecds, but can we enable CONFIG_X86_X32 in them ? it's valid starting with linux-3.4, and doesn't require anything other than CONFIG_IA32_EMULATION (which we already enable for 32bit support).
Doing that, can possibly have some undesired side effects. See bug #424573 (I can't make a depend on it)
gcc-4.7 is not even in ~arch. not a blocking issue.
with gentoo-sources-3.4.x in stable now, is there anything blocking enabling of this in our install media ?
(In reply to comment #3) > with gentoo-sources-3.4.x in stable now, is there anything blocking enabling > of this in our install media ? The x32 support is enabled in the latest installcd kernel[1]. It was already enabled for the 3.4.2 kernel, though. We should have new install media next week after I update catalyst to the 2.0.11 release (I plan to do it this weekend). I'm closing this bug as this should be fixed in the latest release[1]. [1] - http://distfiles.gentoo.org/releases/amd64/autobuilds/current-iso/install-amd64-minimal-20120917.iso
