Description Luis Medinas 2012-06-06 20:53:41 UTC
It would be nice to include this patch[1], all the major distros include it anyway. Also gentoo has gdm, systemd and openrc with plymouth support it would be great if the last missing piece to have a smooth transition.

Reproducible: Always

What is the upstream status of this patch?
Comment 2 Luis Medinas 2012-06-07 13:15:03 UTC
Honestly i don't know but for a few years the major distros ship this patch, eventualy it will end up there.

I am asking about upstream because we don't want to be stuck with maintaining such a patch indefinitely. It would be good if you send this patch to the intel-gfx mailing list to get at least a comment from the developers.

> the major distros ship this patch

A quick survey reveals that the following distros include this patch:
Fedora
OpenSUSE
Ubuntu

These distros don't include it:
Arch
Debian
Mageia/Mandriva
Slackware

looks like it was upstreamed for 2.20.2
