checking for perl... /usr/bin/perl configure: error: XML::Parser perl module is required for intltool !!! ERROR: gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.4.2-r1 failed. !!! Function econf, Line 365, Exitcode 1 !!! econf failed
I find that hard to believe as -r1 has a DEPEND on intltool >= 0.29, which in turn has an RDEPEND on XML-Parser. if you have removed XML::Parser, please reinstal intltool to get dependencies right in your system
*intltool-0.29 (26 Jan 2004) 26 Jan 2004; foser <foser@gentoo.org> intltool-0.29.ebuild, metadata.xml : New release, added XML-Parser as rdep I emerged intltool before this date. So archs which still have 0.27.2 as stable version will maybe encounter this problem. Perhaps you should fix it for this version, aswell?
Why ? In the tree this has never happened, so it should not be a problem to our users. On a side note there have been some reports where XML-Parser was installed, but in the wrong perl root for some reason. Do keep that in mind when handling these bugs.
Just forget my comment #2, the dependencies of .27 can hardly have an effect when .29 is required...
(In reply to comment #3) > On a side note there have been some reports where XML-Parser was installed, but > in the wrong perl root for some reason. Do you have any more details of this, please? I suspect it may be happening to me. Symptoms: XML-Parser is installed; there's a file on my system called /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/XML/Parser/PerlSAX.pm; yet compiling gnome-vfs still fails with the same error message quoted in the original bug report. Thanks, Dan
