Hi,

when emerging php, portage wants to install freetype 2.x.x and freetype 1.3.1.
why? i think that the dependency for freetype 1.3 can be removed - or does php 4.3 really need freetype 1.3?

what i already did is, unmerging freetype 1.3 and reinstall php with "emerge --nodeps". it did still compile.

actually both are needed. FT2 is for the new gd, and FT1 is for some of php's own (older) stuff. upstream is trying to move it to FT2, but hasn't completed it as yet AFAIK.
