I'm unable to boot the downloaded minimal install cd on a ibm power5 box.
I tried to download the iso from a different mirror but the md5sum of this iso is the same

It has been awhile, so could you please try the newest ISO.  If that does not work, could you please provide more information about any errors you are seeing.
