The cpufreq patches look like a win for not only laptop users but
noise-avoiding desktop users as well.  Unfortunately, merging them
in with gentoo-sources looks to be a pain.  For those of us who can't
upgrade to 2.6 because of other dependancies, would it be possible for
the cpufreq patches to be added to gentoo-sources?

Not likely anytime soon. I'm trying to stabilize gentoo-sources-2.4.22. Then I'll look at updating and adding in extra features, but that's going to be a while.
