A message occurrs on bootup of "Kernel Panic cannot mount root filesystem". This did not happen the first time, when I had not enabled devfs I simply got a message that Gentoo would not be functional _unless_ I went back and enabled it, so I did that and now I get the kernel panic. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Emerge gentoo-sources 2. Compile with recommended options in install guide 3. unchroot, unmount, and reboot. Actual Results: Kernel paniced. Expected Results: Boot I suppose... AMD K6-2 300 64 MB Ram IDE HDA ROOTFS: /dev/hda3 ReiserFS BootFS: /dev/hda1 ext2 /dev/hda2 = Swap gentoo-sources
can you attach your .config please
Also, please add your /etc/lilo.conf or grub.conf and tell us whether you're using genkernel, and what revision of gentoo-sources you tried. Thanks.
