Description Brett I. Holcomb 2004-02-08 14:15:45 UTC
I updated portage yesterday. Today from my user account I tried to run man emerge and ebuild and got the error shown below. I found that if I went to root, ran man ebuild or man emerge I didn't get any of these errors. When I returned to my user I could now open the manpage without problems. What is happening here?

brett@strider brett $ man ebuild
rm: remove write-protected regular empty file `/var/cache/man/cat1/ebuild.1.bz2
?
Formatting page, please wait...

re/man/man1/ebuild.1.gz'; echo; echo ".pl \n(nlu+10") | /usr/bin/gtbl | /usr/bi

ed with status 1.

bzip2: Compressed file ends unexpectedly;
        perhaps it is corrupted? *Possible* reason follows.
bzip2: Success
        Input file = /var/cache/man/cat1/ebuild.1.bz2, output file = (stdout)

It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.

You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.
