Description Goran Mitic 2012-01-30 13:53:25 UTC
hello

I am newbie, and I was asked to report this by fellow gentoo forum member.

I updated system, and it had sys-apps/openrc-0.9.8.2 among other updates.
after update I etc-update and I replaced all files with new ones,
since I did not make changes in those files before (I am keeping an eye
only for ssh and apache, and from now on sysfs)

I retyped some of boot messages:
OpenRC 0.9.8.2 is starting up Gentoo Linux (x86_64)

* Mounting /proc ...
* WARNING: rc_sys not defined in rc.config. Falling back to automatic detection
* Mounting /sys ...
* Mounting debug filesystem ...
mkdir: cannnot create directory '/sys/fs/cgroup/cpuset': No such file or directory
mount: mount point /sys/fs/cgroup/cpuset does not exist
(same for)... /sys/fs/cgroup/ns
... /sys/fs/cgroup/cpu
... /sys/fs/cgroup/cpuacct
... /sys/fs/cgroup/freezer

Possibly non-existent devise?
* Operation error
...
...
* ERROR: consolefont failed to start
Couldn't open /dev/tty2 (...12)
...
...

I visited gentoo irc, where I was given instruction to comment lines 101-104 in /etc/init.d/sysfs file. Here is paste: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/541089/

After that system works.

I started logging my boot messages today, and I tried to recreate bug, succesfully. Sadly, boot log does not record error messages with original (uncommented lines 101-104) /etc/initd.sysfs, so the only thing from boot messages are lines written above.

If it is needed, I could try to retype all boot messages.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. leave original /etc/init.d/sysfs
2. reboot
3. bug
Actual Results:
I can log in (root and user) but can not start WM. also a lot of services are not working.

Expected Results:
I am newbie at linux, what can I answer... it should boot up?
