Is there anybody at all looking into this issue? It is still listed as "unconfirmed" despite at least 3 of us who have posted on this thread reporting the issue. I completely recompiled my system this past weekend and tried again yesterday to install libreoffice-3.5.0.1 with the same result. This is an important app I use all of the time, but the only one on my system I currently can't upgrade. I've tried compiling with every conceivable combination of available "use" flags, but no matter what I select I end up with this error and the compilation fails. As I said in my previous post, this has been an issue for me since the pre-release 3.5 betas crept into the tree. Prior to this, I never had any issues compiling any version of either libreoffice or openoffice. Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated. TIA
Same here I did rebuild my system to but the issue still there and I'm stuck with libreoffice-bin-3.4.3.2-r1 ad this is not the best

This is still an issue with libreoffice-3.5.0.3 I tried to upgrade today since this newer version was in the tree, hoping this issue had been resolved. Any word on progress for a fix or workaround for this issue? It was first reported here over 5 weeks ago, wasn't marked as a confirmed bug until 3 weeks ago, and there hasn't been any updates or comments by maintainers or Devs in over 2 weeks. No one wants to be orphaned. It would be nice to at least get a status update. Is there a fix in the works? Or those of us with this issue doomed to use version-3.4.x indefinitely? Please post back with info. TIA Ciao
I still have problem reproducing it thus finding the culprit. As i posted previously the error mesage i still have no clue why it says that target/nontarget do not match. I will try to rebuild the glib with the glibc-omitfp and see if it fails for me too.
Hm, looks like it passed for me. Could you please run this on your failed isntall and see if the error is pesistent? /bin/sh cd /var/tmp/portage/app-office/libreoffice-3.5.0.1/work/libreoffice-core-3.5.0.1 source ./Env.Host.sh cd icc build

Sadly it does not :( as the build actually passed for you, so no error this time. Could you try to: cd /var/tmp/portage/app-office/libreoffice-3.5.0.3/work/libreoffice-core-3.5.0.3 source ./Env.Host.sh make Lets see if it fails again. I really hope we will nail it and it aint just build system hickup :)

As an additional note. I just finished successfully recompiling libreoffice-3.4.5.2 without issues. I can't for the life of me figure out why all of the 3.5.x versions are failing for me , but 3.4.x emerge perfectly. There has to be an answer to this.

Then again I tried issuing the commands above to see if I could get it to build. This time it got almost to the end where it once more failed. The build failed at something called "tail_build". However the output mentioned issuing 'export $(dbus-launch)' and building again from tail_build. I did this then attempted a top level make once more. This time = success!!!! So now I have the completed build of libreoffice-core-3.5.1.2 in /var. Now what do I do? Is there some way to have portage install it? Where do I go from here? TIA Ciao
sure, just as root write ebuild /blabla/libreoffice-3.5.1.2.ebuild qmerge and then wipe the /var/tmp/blabla/ Hmm about that dbus it means that yet another fcking build test relies on running dbus on the system.
Also please POST here the error you had after the first manual try. Oh and when thinking about what you have there, try to run: ebuild blabla/libreoffice.ebuild install before the qmerge one if it fails.
over here it keep failing even with the suggested actions will at least libreoffice-3.5.x get a binary version? since I can't compile it
(In reply to comment #26) > over here it keep failing even with the suggested actions > > will at least libreoffice-3.5.x > > get a binary version? > since I can't compile it There will be binary version when it goes stable, which I hope will be soon when I manage to wrangle all the issues around.
ok I'll wait I also hope to be able to compile it :D how can I help you?
Hmm, only think that could cause this is failing test, so maybe last attempt from lubos to make them headless could make this thing work. Could you try this patch and let me know if it works? http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/patch/?id=61d6d08667e03271604007fe602063c08e0e8608
how should I apply that patch?
Tomáš, I need you to clarify how I can install the compiled libreoffice-core from /var/tmp/portage/app-office/libreoffice-3.5.2.2 into my system. When I try using 'qmerge' the way you instructed I get an error about it not being installed and when I use 'ebuild blabla/libreoffice.ebuild install' as instructed, everything already compiled is deleted/erased from /var/tmp/portage/ and it begins to compile fresh. So I must be doing something wrong. BTW, Here is the output from when the compilation fails the after resolving the above mentioned error we are all dealing with in this report: [ build MOD ] reportdesign [ build MOD ] sc [ build MOD ] chart2 [ build MOD ] sd [ build MOD ] writerfilter [ build CUT ] writerfilter_rtftok /bin/sh: line 1: 20199 Aborted LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$O/lib":$O/lib/sqlite DBGSV_ERROR_OUT=shell STAR_RESOURCEPATH=$O/bin/ $O/bin/cppunit/cppunittester $W/LinkTarget/CppunitTest/libtest_writerfilter_rtftok.so --protector unoexceptionprotector.so unoexceptionprotector "-env:CONFIGURATION_LAYERS=xcsxcu:file://$O/xml/registry" "-env:UNO_TYPES= file://$O/bin/udkapi.rdb file://$O/bin/types.rdb" "-env:UNO_SERVICES=file://$O/xml/ure/services.rdb file://$O/xml/component/writerfilter/util/writerfilter.component file://$O/xml/configmgr.component file://$O/xml/ucb1.component file://$O/xml/ucpfile1.component" -env:URE_INTERNAL_LIB_DIR=file://$O/lib -env:LO_LIB_DIR=file://$O/lib > $W/CppunitTest/writerfilter_rtftok.test.log 2>&1 LibreOffice(20199)/kdeui (kdelibs): Session bus not found To circumvent this problem try the following command (with Linux and bash) export $(dbus-launch) Error: a unit test failed, please do one of: export DEBUGCPPUNIT=TRUE # for exception catching export GDBCPPUNITTRACE="gdb --args" # for interactive debugging export VALGRIND=memcheck # for memory checking and retry. make[2]: *** [/var/tmp/portage/app-office/libreoffice-3.5.2.2/work/libreoffice-core-3.5.2.2/workdir/unxlngx6.pro/CppunitTest/writerfilter_rtftok.test] Error 1 make[2]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... dmake: Error code 2, while making 'all' ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh dear - something failed during the build - sorry ! Damn, it is probably broken because of the changes I did to the ebuild... It relies on not altering the ebuild during the phases -> you would have to run it against the ebuild you started with and now it probably broke beyond repair, sorry. (something to remember for next time) But If you as root run the ebuild blabla.ebuild clean ebuild blabla.ebuild install # crash cd /var/tmp.../ make cd ~ ebuild blabla.ebuild install ebuild blabla.ebuild qmerge It should simply now work if you run it from scratch. For that not applying icu-patch2 patch I will update those two with one patch in moment, i probably broke it when i copied it to cvs.
Tomáš, I have some good news and bad news to report. First the good. I was finally able to build and install libreoffice-3.5.2.2 over the weekend, but it was a struggle! Which brings me to the bad news. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but every time I invoke 'ebuild /usr/portage/app-office/libreoffice/libreoffice-3.5.2.2.ebuild install' to install the completed libreoffice build it begins to recompile again from scratch. Always just before deleting the existing build directories portage complains about a "checksum error" then starts the entire process as though I'd never completed the build. However, if I just let 'ebuild /usr/portage/app-office/libreoffice/libreoffice-3.5.2.2.ebuild install' run its course, it runs completely without crashing, even in the above mentioned spot this bug report targets. So there needs to be further investigation as to why the emerge fails in this spot when emerge -1av libreoffice-3.5.x is invoked, but builds and installs successfully when 'ebuild /usr/portage/app-office/libreoffice/libreoffice-3.5.2.2.ebuild install' and 'ebuild /usr/portage/app-office/libreoffice/libreoffice-3.5.2.2.ebuild qmerge' are used instead. BTW this phenomenon occurs with both 2.1.x and 2.2.x versions of portage. When I started this process a few months ago I was using 2.1.x portage. I switched last week to 2.2.x in an attempt to see if this would alleviate the issue, but with the same results. So again, for some reason this crash while building "icc" only occurs when using the 'emerge' command and does not take place at all when 'ebuild install' and 'ebuild qmerge' are used instead. I hope this helps isolate the issue. TIA

Tomáš, I have an update that might shed some light as to what may (or may not) be causing this issue. I purchased a new larger hard drive this weekend. I decided to change my partitioning scheme primarily because of the new udev versions wanting /usr and /var to reside in / unless an initramfs is used. I tryout and update my kernels frequently and don't feel like making an initramfs every time I do so. Previously /usr and /var resided on different partitions. In my new configuration only /boot /home and /usr/portage are on different partitions. Wednesday I decided to update to the latest kernel headers and began rebuilding my system with them. I'm happy to report that for the first time any version of libreoffice-3.5.x emerged without any outside intervention. This leads me to believe that perhaps this problem may be associated with having /var and or /usr on different partitions than /. I don't have another machine to try this out on to confirm, but it seems odd that it would now emerge cleanly with my new configuration, but had this "icc" issue with the old one. Just an idea. I hope this helps Rob

any news?
I simply have no more ideas how to solve this :-( If you take look on the offending line: $(MISC)/%.unpack : $(TARFILE_LOCATION2)/%.tar.bz2 It has properly % on both sides so it should not ever show the error you seen. Also if one take look on the 3.4 tarballs the file is exactly same: $(MISC)/%.unpack : $(TARFILE_LOCATION2)/%.tar.bz2 There might be some possibility that MISC or TARFILE_LOCATION2 are poluted from your environment? But then it should break also on 3.4... Try checking your enviroment variables. The bright side is that we phase out dmake quite fast, now 70% of modules are using nomal makefiles so this problem should go away with 3.6 if everything is done in time. But still I would really like to know why it is not working for you...
