Description Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2012-01-28 10:39:04 UTC
The file size grows up fast due to thousandf of lines like :

"/usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd(4087)" Soprano: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown - The name was not provided by any .service files"
QObject: Cannot create children for a parent that is in a different thread.
(Parent is Soprano::Client::LocalSocketClient(0x940203c), parent's thread is QThread(0x93217d0), current thread is RankingsUpdateThread(0x9448e08)
"/usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd(4087)" Soprano: "QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name"
"/usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd(4087)" Soprano: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown - The name was not provided by any .service files"
"/usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd(4087)" Soprano: "Unsupported operation (2)": "Invalid model"
"/usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd(4087)" Soprano: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown - The name was not provided by any .service files"
"/usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd(4087)" Soprano: "Unsupported operation (2)": "Invalid model"
"/usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd(4087)" Soprano: "Unsupported operation (2)": "Invalid model"
"/usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd(4087)" Soprano: "Invalid iterator."

Reproducible: Always

If you don't want to get Log Messages by a specific kde-application, just run "kdebugdialog", filter for the app you are looking for and uncheck the checkbox, press OK, and be happy to get silence back ;)
Comment 3 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2012-01-28 13:29:04 UTC
oh -thx
Comment 4 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2012-01-28 16:11:50 UTC
re-opened - even after disabling all debug output it spams.
Comment 5 Franz Trischberger 2012-01-28 20:46:08 UTC
Did you restart kde (logout - login)? AFAIK applications need to be restartet in order to take notice of those settings.

yes - issue is still present (about 10 lines per second)
Comment 7 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2012-01-29 11:24:51 UTC
Right... Seeing the same here.

Do you have in systemsettings
* the semantic desktop services enabled or disabled
* the nepomuk indexer enabled or disabled?
Comment 8 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2012-01-29 13:56:15 UTC
both are disabled
Comment 9 Franz Trischberger 2012-01-29 14:54:43 UTC
You are not alone...
Comment 10 Johannes Huber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-02-09 18:42:10 UTC
Following workaround is given in the upstream bug (comment 25):

> 1. Turn off Nepomuk and kill any remaining virtuoso-t processes
> 2. Delete (or move) ~/.kde/share/apps/nepomuk folder
> 3. Delete (or move) ~/.kde/share/config/nepomuk* configuration files
> 4. Restart Nepomuk.

You can help upstream by providing following information (comment 26):
> Could someone please backup the nepomuk files. Then follow the steps for
> comment 25 and if it works attach them here?

sure that it is the same ?
Comment 12 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2012-02-10 20:38:34 UTC
No it's not the same problem, only that bugreport *also* shows this problem here...
Comment 13 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2012-02-10 20:43:47 UTC
Filed new upstream bug report
Comment 14 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2012-04-03 20:29:21 UTC
Seems to be fixed in 4.8.2
Comment 15 Johannes Huber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2012-04-05 00:11:29 UTC
KDE SC 4.8.2 is in tree now.
