Description Glenn Ross 2004-02-01 10:14:20 UTC
smb appears to have successfully emerged. However, when I attempt to run any of the smb apps, I receive the error:

...: error while loading shared libraries: libacl.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Even knowing how to procure the acl library would help. ...Knowing how to install it (if it isn't obvious) would be nice too.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install samba from live cd
2. try to run samba
3. read error message

Actual Results:
...: error while loading shared libraries: libacl.so.1: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

Expected Results:
samba does samba things... LOL

emerge acl

... buys you a libattr & libacl.

did you build samba from source or install from a GRP download?
Comment 2 Andrew Roberts 2004-05-01 04:33:09 UTC
ebuild already has conditional dependancy on sys-apps/acl dependant on USE flag acl.

Suggest -> invalid.

Hey, thanks for your help. Bug 48195 certainly looks to be the root cause. I have successfully build a Gentoo platform using the 04 minimal CD (Starting from stage2.) As this was build on the ruins of the previous attempt, (After reformatting, LOL,) I cannot verify this now.

thank you again for your assistance.

Glenn
