Description Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2012-01-22 09:41:31 UTC
This results in a pull of about 100 packages only for the git doc which I'd like to avoid to be build.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
-doc should be respected resulting in the fact that ascii2doc & friends aren't needed.

dev-vcs/git-1.7.8.4 was built with the following:
USE="blksha1 curl iconv perl python threads webdav -cgi -cvs -doc -emacs -gtk (-ppcsha1) -subversion -tk -xinetd"
Comment 1 Robin Johnson archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2012-01-22 20:58:01 UTC
USE=-doc is not available for -9999, because there are no prebuilt docs for -9999.
I think that -9999 should continue to always build the manpages (using asciidoc).
Comment 2 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2012-01-23 09:18:30 UTC
Well, but this means that for a simple check (eg.: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395487#c14) a running system is forced to install a lot of additional packages with all of the possible impact ...

OTOH this works fine for me

n22 / # cat /usr/bin/asciidoc
#!/bin/sh

while [[ -n "$1" ]]; do
        TXT=$1
        shift
done

touch $TXT

:-)

If you're running the 9999 ebuilds, you should be prepared to have extra deps.
I just needed the rest of the test results from you.

RESOLVED:WONTFIX then? Just trying to clean up the amounts of dev-vcs/git bugs.
