At ftp://ftp.uk.linux.org/pub/linux/Networking/netkit/ Pls stablereq ftp-0.17.23.0.2.1 or change url to ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/network/netkit/ Reproducible: Always
all netkit related packages are gone now
They are all available at http://ftp.linux.org.uk/pub/linux/Networking/netkit/.
(In reply to Kerin Millar from comment #2) > They are all available at > http://ftp.linux.org.uk/pub/linux/Networking/netkit/. Seems to be also gone now? I can't reach it.

I can't reach it. So it has. I don't know what became of the site between then and now. At this point, I think that it would make sense to use Debian's mirrors. The netkit-fingerd and netkit-routerd packages already do so, and the ftp package partially does so. Taking ftp as an example, the first element of SRC_URI could be changed to "mirror://debian/pool/main/n/${MY_PN}/${MY_PN}_${MY_PV}.orig.tar.gz".
The files already exist on gentoo mirrors. The value in SRC_URI is irrelevant so long as new versions are not being released.
Fair enough but in the spirit of keeping one's backyard clean, it hardly seems controversial to spend 5 minutes or so fixing what are, in fact, invalid URIs. Besides which, there are many gentoo mirrors that a user may elect to use. It's an indisputable fact that they are not all equally reliable. In the event that a request should fail and that DISTDIR does not contain the applicable file, the current situation is that portage will fall back upon a URI that can only result in failure (for a subset of netkit packages).
Feel free to submit a patch series or a PR on github.
(In reply to Mike Gilbert from comment #7) > Feel free to submit a patch series or a PR on github. OK. Thanks.
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/system/network/netkit/ appears to still be up and has the netkit files available.
I updated the remaining netkit packages in the gentoo repo with the following values, which are working as of today. HOMEPAGE="https://wiki.linuxfoundation.org/networking/netkit" SRC_URI="http://ftp.linux.org.uk/pub/linux/Networking/netkit/..."
