New firmware can be obtained from http://www.intellinuxwireless.org. [ 11.112077] iwlagn 0000:10:00.0: loaded firmware version 8.24.2.12 with net-wireless/iwl5000-ucode-8.24.2.12 and sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-3.0.6. No more warning with net-wireless/iwl5000-ucode-8.83.5.1 (with the same kernel)
If it is any help, I have been running 8.83.5.1 for quite some time now (almost a year) with no problems whatsoever. I've found it to be more stable in low-signal conditions than 8.24.2.12.
I can confirm, that it's working on amd64 since over a year. Please stabilize.
Another vote to stabilize. This firmware, in addition to eliminating the dmesg warning, also appears to fix a bug for me in which the machine goes into an unrecoverable bad state every several suspend attempts.
