I tried to write this ebuild, but I'm not sure it works 100% perfectly (however it works good on my gentoo).

It works very well with gnome-2 too

Please update the depend in a correct way and do not use subshell.

making the build a bit more compliant with portage's standards.

I personally wanted to leave the subshell in src_prepare{} rather of useing patch just because it seems to me the easiest way to determinate the last valac executable. 

Waiting for vala.class or some other solutions. Thanks in advance

bump. It should support both gtk2/3, but i have no idea how to force it to use gtk2 if you have also gtk3 installed (autodetect last gtk version) so i forced it to use gtk3 only.
