xcompmgr v1.1.4 will not work well with chromium if the user don't use the system title bar. it's a pretty old issue and not only appears on gentoo. look here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=26598 the latest git version works well. (I'm pretty sure you don't need emerge --info this time!)

SHA1 ID of the lastest commit is 2a40523ef8c658703eae3d17732e76298abf48e5.
To be honest, there are very few commits after 1.1.5 release and only one that could matter here.
Fixed in 1.1.6.
