xcompmgr v1.1.4 will not work well with chromium if the user don't use the system title bar. it's a pretty old issue and not only appears on gentoo. look here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=26598

the latest git version works well.

(I'm pretty sure you don't need emerge --info this time!)

xcompmgr-1.1.5 is in portage, older versions are long gone.

git version you will find in the x11 overlay. We have no plans to put git versions in portage. If you identify a particular patch that needs backporting, we might consider that.

it seems that some older versions of xcompmgr v1.1.5 will output the version as "v1.1.4". but the version number in portage is 1.1.5. sorry for that.

it is the latest version, which was commited on 6th, Oct, that works. even the second latest version (commited on 25th, Sep.) does not.

SHA1 ID of the lastest commit is 2a40523ef8c658703eae3d17732e76298abf48e5.

To be honest, there are very few commits after 1.1.5 release and only one that could matter here.

Fixed in 1.1.6.
