Scilab builds well with the previous version of gcc. But fails on new versions of gcc. My system failed with: Creation of ../../bin/libjavasci.so instead of: Creation of ../../libs/tclsci.a But it also had this, as one of it's final lines: gfortran: /var/tmp/portage/sci-mathematics/scilab-4.1.2-r1/work/scilab-4.1.2/libs/system.a: No such file or directory I got it to compile by trying 4.1.2-r3, YMMV.
