x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-96.43.20 blocks xorg-server-1.11.1-r1 from being installed. Dare we hope for a patch or an unblocking?

There is no ability to patch, the drivers are binary only. Once NVIDIA releases a version that supports the new xorg-server we'll add it to the tree.
