Description Nero Wolfe 2004-01-19 14:38:21 UTC
GPM (console mouse system) will not work with links (graphical consol web browser) under directfb (or any other graphic mode i presume) because it's PS/2 emulation cannot use the mouse device while GPM is using it. A patch has been made to fix it

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run GPM and make it work (gpm -m /dev/mouse -t imps2 (depending on what mouse you have))
2. Run links in graphical mode (links -g)

Actual Results:
First GPM starts (if you haven't already started it), then links starts.

Expected Results:
Links runs but cannot make the mouse operational due to GPM.

what do you think, ingo?
Comment 2 Ingo -LaSombra- Hoffmann 2004-01-23 18:00:38 UTC
Well, it always worked fine with me using kernel fb, but I'll test it this patch this weekeng.
It could be some kernel 2.6 issue, but I don't believe that's the case. Anyway I'll give an answer soon.

Ok, I'm using links 2.1pre14 with kernel 2.6.1-gentoo-r1 with vesafb and my USB mouse and it's working fine. As I could see, this patch is for DirectFB only and, IMO, it should be sent to the guys at Twilight Labs to commit and not to Gentoo.
