Most likely it needs gcc 4.5 set as active.
Comment 2 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-10-18 14:28:36 UTC
As other said.
It is built against latest stable tree, so it expects the latest stable packages around (i would love to build it statically if that would be possible, but it aint).
Comment 3 wbrana 2011-10-18 14:50:41 UTC
I'm using gcc 4.4 because gcc 4.5 has 12 additional bugs with keyword wrong-code according to gcc's bugzilla.
Comment 4 Tomáš Chvátal (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-10-19 09:33:17 UTC
I fixed this bug by adding gcc check in pkg_pretend.

Sadly there is not much I could do about this as we ship the stage3 with gcc-4.5 selected by default.

I would really recommend you to update to gcc-4.5, there might be some new regressions, but it is stable enough for Gentoo so it should work for you too :)

Other than that there will be always the binary provided by upstream, albeit hardmasked, so you will be free to use that one, but you have to keep on your mind that some internal libs my pose security threat etc. etc.

Closing this as FIXED, even tho the fix itself is not exactly of the kind that would make everyone happy.
