Description Martin Mokrejš 2011-10-08 13:06:17 UTC
I have the problem that cdcd claims to play a CD from the CD-ROM drive but I hear no sound. Playing local sound files from the hard-drive works. It seems I have same problem like Debian users:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=568996
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/audio_intel_hda
http://packages.debian.org/cs/source/sid/cdcd

While inspecting what Debian has I see the Gentoo ebuild could:

1. Install the ~/.bashrc additions for command-line autocompletion/
2. Apply all patches to our sources (all apply cleanly for me, and compile on ~x86)

Unfortunately, I still get no sound, on linux-3.0.4 vanilla kernel. Yes, no Debian patch seems to do anything in this regard, true. My ICH3M hardware uses:

snd_seq 30669 0
snd_seq_device 3733 1 snd_seq
snd_intel8x0m 8191 0
snd_intel8x0 19542 0
snd_ac97_codec 78302 2 snd_intel8x0m,snd_intel8x0
ac97_bus 694 1 snd_ac97_codec
snd_pcm 42233 3 snd_intel8x0m,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec
snd_timer 11581 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm
