Current orca-2 fails to find pyatspi with the current set of depends. It looks like it needs to depend on gnome-extra/at-spi-2 (which pulls in some additional at-spi deps) *now* rather than wait for the Gnome-3* packages. Configure currently fails without changing the above depend line in the orca ebuild to this: >=gnome-extra/at-spi-2.0.0 With this change, everything builds and works fine. orca-2 is meant to build with at-spi:1, not with gnome 3 packages. Could you provide some logs ?
Also try to run "python2" and "import pyatspi"
