After recent openrc upgrade, I can not start dovecot anymore: $ sudo /etc/init.d/dovecot start * Use of the opts variable is deprecated and will be * removed in the future. * Please use extra_commands or extra_started_commands. * Starting dovecot ... * start-stop-daemon: pam error: Authentication failure * start-stop-daemon: failed to start `/usr/sbin/dovecot' [ !! ] * ERROR: dovecot failed to start This does not produce any messages in syslog When I replace /etc/pam.d/start-stop-daemon with previous one, dovecto can be started like before. Uhm... I was too quick and did not notice, that I had openrc-0.9.0 Upgrade to 0.9.1 solves this problem, only warnings about extra_commands remain
