app-emulation/virtualbox-guest-additions is installed, but the kernel modules are missing. "equery f virtualbox-guest-additions" shows that the package installed modules for kernel 2.6.38, but only 3.0 kernel is installed.

Are you talking about virtualbox-guest-additions being installed in the DVD or about installing it on your system using the DVD?

The first one. I did not install anything, just started the LiveDVD with VirtualBox. virtualbox-guest-additions is installed, but the modules are missing from the /lib/modules/3.0.0-gentoo/... directory. Sadly I have not enough mem to rebuild this big package in virtualbox.

cannot reproduce this bug, if anyone runs into this feel free to reopen it. closing for now.
