being that we include the kernel sources on the livedvd, you can just enable the module yourself then 'make modules_install && modprobe r8169' to get it to work. This will be addressed on the next maintenance release. Thanks for reporting.

I hope we'll get 3.1 kernel and if that is the case the driver is into kernel now (no need to emerge it) may be only the firmware during kernel compilation ;)

I will remove these packages since they are no longer needed. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. net-wireless/rtl8192se and net-wireless/rtl8192se-firmware are still present in to the Gentoo2012_amd64_multilib_dvd!! So, to make my wireless work i had to: emerge -C net-wireless/rtl8192se net-wireless/rtl8192se-firmware rmmod rtl8192se rtlwifi depmod modprobe rtl8192se And this is the only way to get my wlan0! Can you please fix this for me in 2012dvd? Thank you!

Sorry but the 2012DVD has already shipped but this will be fixed on future releases, sorry for the inconvenience. At least you're able to fix it yourself ;)

# grep CONFIG_RTL8192 .config CONFIG_RTL8192CE=m CONFIG_RTL8192SE=m CONFIG_RTL8192DE=m CONFIG_RTL8192CU=m CONFIG_RTL8192C_COMMON=m CONFIG_RTL8192U=m CONFIG_RTL8192E=m This is now in 12.1 release.
When should we expect the 12.1 release ?

Aalmost there ;) When I boot the 12.1 the rtl8192se module get loaded but the inetrface wlan0 does not get created, so I have to do: rmmod rtl8192se modprobe rtl8192se to get it created. After that everything is fine! May be the initramfs contains the old module from net-wireless/rtl8192se package and needs to be updated?
