Description Tolga Dalman 2011-08-10 11:54:05 UTC
Starting netbeans-7.0.1 leads to the following console message (along with a Gnome bug-buddy window pop-up):

process 4226: arguments to dbus_message_iter_append_basic() were incorrect, assertion "*bool_p == 0 || *bool_p == 1" failed in file /var/tmp/portage/sys-apps/dbus-1.4.14/work/dbus-1.4.14/dbus/dbus-message.c line 2549.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.
D-Bus not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace

I'm not sure, whether the error is due to a netbeans-7.0.1 upgrade, or caused by other recent packages (e.g., dbus-1.4.14).

Reproducible: Always

i am not aware of netbeans using dbus. do you have some new info for this issue?

I guess, one of the direct or indirect dependencies uses dbus (e.g., Gnome/GTK).
However, I fail to understand, where this error comes from.
Comment 3 Miroslav Šulc gentoo-dev 2011-08-17 09:41:07 UTC
guys at freedesktop, could you please have a look at this issue? i have no idea what might be causing it and it is related to dbus. thanks.
Comment 4 Tolga Dalman 2011-09-11 12:08:12 UTC
I can't reproduce the error anymore -- having updated several packages and USE flags since my original report, netbeans no longer crashes. However, I think the root cause of this problem should be found.
Comment 5 Pavel Goran 2011-09-19 08:01:52 UTC
I have this issue, as well. It happens when I try to enter a password for a Tomcat manager user.

This bug is in NetBean's bug tracker: http://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=198921

It has something to do with keyring integration. Adding '-J-Dnetbeans.keyring.no.native=true' to NetBeans launch options, as suggested there, does help - but then NetBeans uses its own password storage, not gnome's keyring or whatever else it is supposed to use.

From my side, this bug is gone. Pavel, you still have issues ? Otherwise we can close this thread. Thanks!
Comment 8 Pavel Goran 2011-11-08 15:18:20 UTC
It seems to be OK now. (Well, it doesn't work smoothly, but it doesn't crash anymore, so this bug can be closed.)
