Created attachment 279213 [details] evtest-1.28.ebuild Evtest is a necessary utility for troubleshooting input devices and really should be included in Gentoo rather than forcing user to manually install. It's not even in an overlays AFAICT. I would suggest "dev-util" as the category. The ebuild depends upon libxml2 for the evtest-capture command and upon asciidoc and xmlto for man pages. Previous old bug 127660 was closed prior to evtest command being split out from the Linux Console tools a while ago (now at http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxconsole/) and strangely closed as resolved invalid. This version on Freedesktop is being updated by the Xorg input maintainer.
Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Dane [1]: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/sunrise/ [2]: http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/wiki/SunriseFaq
I should clarify that evtest is included in games-util/joystick package but evtest is definitely not just for games. See bug 374245 for games-util/joystick upstream update request that will no longer be inclusive of evtest.
evtest-1.29 added today does not fetch (s/tar.bz2/tar.gz/?) also maybe this bug can be closed
