Description Kirill Elagin 2011-06-10 19:08:19 UTC
sys-apps/busybox is built with CONFIG_FEATURE_DEVFS for some reason which causes it to use deprecated names /dev/loop/#.

On one hand, there's always 'savedconfig'.

On the other, perhaps ebuild should use defconfig instead of allyesconfig.
Comment 3 Kirill Elagin 2011-06-10 23:08:32 UTC
Well https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269359.
I believe DEVFS should be explicitly disabled for Gentoo.

Actually it should not be enabled by default as supposed in source code:

include/libbb.h:
#elif ENABLE_FEATURE_DEVFS
/*Linux, obsolete devfs names */
<...>
#else
/*Linux, normal names */
<...>
Comment 4 Rafał Mużyło 2011-06-11 14:10:12 UTC
Actually, you're looking at the wrong file - check miscutils/Config.src.
Comment 5 Kirill Elagin 2011-06-11 15:05:01 UTC
I just wanted to day that developers didn't expect someone to enable it by default. It's clear from the comment that it is not a “feature”-option, but a “workaround”.

Using allyesconfig here is a really bad idea.

But anyway ebuild contains a list of explicitly disabled options. I wonder why DEVFS is not there.

Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2011-06-11 19:56:15 UTC
busybox-1.18.4 no longer enables the devfs option
Comment 8 gfl3162+gbugzilla 2011-07-01 03:45:48 UTC
As of now, CONFIG_FEATURE_DEVFS=y still appears in the .config created by "make allyesconfig" and busybox mount -o loop still fails.
