gphoto2 should be compiling in JPEG support when USE=jpeg, but it gets: Configuration (gphoto2): Source code location: . Compiler: gcc Configuration support: yes Preview support: no (not requested) JPEG support: no (not requested) pkg-config: yes At the end of the configure stage. This is gphoto2-2.1.2. # emerge info Portage 2.0.49-r18 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r3, 2.4.22-gentoo-r2) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.22-gentoo-r2 i686 Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 - M CPU 2.00GHzGentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10p1 distcc 2.11.1 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [enabled] ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fprefetch-loop-arrays -funroll-loops -fmerge-all-constants -fforce-addr -foptimize-register-move -frename-registers -mfpmath=sse -mno-push-args -mno-align-stringops -maccumulate-outgoing-args" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -fprefetch-loop-arrays -funroll-loops -fmerge-all-constants -fforce-addr -foptimize-register-move -frename-registers -mfpmath=sse -mno-push-args -mno-align-stringops -maccumulate-outgoing-args" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache cvs distcc notitles sandbox userpriv" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ ftp://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ http://www.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo ftp://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/pub/linux/gentoo http://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X acpi avi cdr crypt cups dvd encode esd ethereal foomaticdb gif gnome gtk gtk2 ipv6 java jpeg kerberos krb4 ldap mmx mpeg ncurses nocd oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcmcia pdflib perl pic png pnp ppds quicktime readline samba slp snmp spell sse ssl tcltk tcpd tiff truetype trusted usb videos wmf xml xml2 xmms xv zlib"
a quick check of the ebuild explains all imo : jpeg is only used in combination with aalib, so aalib is the flag to trigger here.
closing as invalid, not a bug
Sounds fine to me... and how come you guys got the gphoto2 stuff, also?
inertia ;) I was the only one who felt like even touching gphoto2 after a few users were hounding me about it. (that and the gtk+ interface ;) This led to some situation where : new release : it compiles, seems to work, but we cant test with cameras: ach, release. Fix : trust the users. overall I think that if you have the hardware to use this and so on, you'd be welcome to take over.
If I free up some time, I'd do that. Right now I am swamped with work and some of my Gentoo responsibilities are starting to fall behind. At least I know who to contact when I get some free time as I do have a digital camera which is supported by libgphoto2.
