When using MozillaFirebird from the mozilla-firebird-cvs ebuild and visiting a site requiring a password the browser prompts to save the passwords twice. This does not happen when using the official pre-compiled nightly binaries from mozilla.org. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge mozilla-firebird-cvs 2. Launch MozillaFirebird 3. Go to a site where you can log in with a username/password 4. MozillaFirebird prompts to save username/password 5. Click yes or no 6. MozillaFirebird prompts to save username/password again Actual Results: MozillaFirebird prompts twice to save username/password Expected Results: MozillaFirebird should only prompt to save the username/password once root@hal tgnb # emerge info Portage 2.0.49-r15 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r3, 2.6.0) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.0 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -mmmx -msse -funroll-loops" CHOST="i486-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -mmmx -msse -funroll-loops" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="sandbox ccache autoaddcvs" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 avi crypt cups encode foomaticdb gif jpeg libg++ libwww mad mikmod mpeg ncurses nls pdflib png quicktime spell truetype xml2 xmms xv zlib gdbm berkdb slang readline arts aalib svga java X sdl gpm tcpd pam ssl perl python esd imlib oggvorbis gtk qt kde motif opengl -oss -apm -gnome alsa cdr dvd gphoto2 gstreamer gtk2 samba"
this also happens with 0.7-r1, although it doesnt happen to me on every site iirc ...
It's actually prompting first to save the username, and then to save the password. I'm not too sure this is a good idea, or why on earth it's happening. I haven't yet seen the same behaviour with the mozilla-firefox-cvs ebuild available on breakmygentoo.net, and it should be noted that the mozilla-firebird-cvs ebuild in portage is effectively unmaintained, but I'm not sure that this has been fixed. You might want to try this.
firebird-cvs no longer in portage
