Description Hans Nieser 2011-03-28 12:32:54 UTC
After upgrading to rhythmbox-0.13.3 I am no longer able to connect to a DAAP share on another Gentoo machine also running the same rhythmbox version, when I click the DAAP share in rhythmbox it asks for a password, but when I enter it it always claims it is wrong even though I'm sure it isn't. I've also tried removing the password from my DAAP share and it would still ask for a password and claim it was incorrect. There are no errors reported in .xsession-errors, but on stdout these appear when I click on the DAAP share in the rhythmbox UI:

(rhythmbox:10251): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

(rhythmbox:10251): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: g_object_set_valist: object class `RBDAAPSource' has no property named `icon'

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install rhythmbox on two computers (A and B), enabled DAAP plugin in both, ensure avahi is running
2. Setup a share in rhythmbox on computer A, without password
3. Attempt to connect to share on computer A from rythmbox on computer B
Actual Results:
rhythmbox on computer B will ask for a password and no matter what is entered it will just re-ask for the password when I click connect

Expected Results:
It should either not ask for a password or let me in with an empty password (or the valid one if I had a password configured)

please post `emerge --info` in all your bug reports
Comment 2 Hans Nieser 2011-03-29 21:30:30 UTC
Whoops, I knew I forgot something:

This is the emerge --info from the 'client' machine (B):

Comment 3 Hans Nieser 2011-03-30 16:00:50 UTC
I managed to sort of get DAAP sharing working again by renaming the DAAP share on the 'server' rhythmbox (with password disabled); this let me connect to it again. However if I enable the password after that, things get broken again in the same way and I can't login from the 'client' rhythmbox, even with the correct password (it'll keep re-asking for the password). Disabling the password after that didn't seem to make it work again right away, I had to restart rhythmbox after which it seemed the 'use password' setting magically turned itself on again (either that or I've gotten terribly confused), but after disabling the password at that point I was able to connect to the DAAP share again. In short: using password is definitely still broken, using no password seems to work, though it may require renaming the DAAP share.

This is most likely an upstream problem. I'll double check on my own box asap.
Comment 5 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-08 13:34:44 UTC
Found an upstream bug for this.
Comment 6 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2011-06-19 12:05:09 UTC
An newer net-libs/libdmapsharing will be needed to fix this
Comment 7 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2011-11-22 00:39:48 UTC
Should be fixed in 2.90.1_pre20111001

I would suggest you to try it or revert to 0.12.x as 0.13 won't ever go to stable and is a pretty outdated (and buggy) version
